Kenyan taxi service Chap Chap has launched a mobile application in Q2 2014 in a bid to drive company growth

Recent reports have noted that the Kenyan market has seen a number of companies in the transport sector release apps like Easy Taxi, which serves users in Nairobi's Kilimani and Westland areas.

Uber, in association with ZapaCab, is also expected to venture into the South African market.

”The space is crowded and a couple of big players have ear marked the territory. Some have already setup shop and talks of big budgets and aggressive tactics are all over the space. We are not deterred because what we are offering is a local product providing local solutions,” the cab service stated.

Chap Chap said it aims to create a niche in this market by providing local solutions and building a product that is suited to the Kenyan market.

"We are in the business of providing compelling experiences to our customers coupled with "tree-huggingly" good customer service as well as exceptional value to our partners," the company said.
