Worldwide satellite provider Globecomm has expanded its geographic coverage with Telstars 12 VANTAGE satellite

Globecomm chose the Ku-band coverage and power of Telstar 12 VANTAGE to expand the reach of its DTH video footprint across sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.

Globecomm’s contract for Telstar 12 VANTAGE represents a significant addition to the company’s Atlantic Ocean region capacity that it has on Telstar 11N and strengthens the ties between Telesat and Globecomm that have been built over 10 years.   

The increased power and larger service area is providing Globecomm with the capability to grow its DTH subscriber base.

Globecomm’s new services through Telstar 12 VANTAGE utilize the company’s terrestrial fibre network between Globecomm’s Long Island, New York and Laurel, Maryland International Teleports. 

“Globecomm and Telesat have worked together for more than a decade growing the maritime VSAT market over the Atlantic and we are excited to now be utilizing the advanced capabilities of Telstar 12 VANTAGE to bring DTH video and other services to our customers in Europe and Africa,” said Michele Scotto di Cesare, SVP Global Operations, Globecomm.

This best-in-class global reach is allowing some of the largest global maritime operators to have instant access to real time information for mission critical applications.”
