Telecom giant MTN has been named the largest brand in Africa in a survey carried out on the continent’s most valuable brands
The company, who has more 200mn customers in 22 markets across Africa, was awarded the Brand Africa 11 prize for being the most valuable African brand.
The award was presented to MTN at the African Business Awards, which was recently held recently in New York, USA.
"MTN’s investment and innovations in building a consistent pan-African brand experience across 16 countries on the continent is an exemplary standard for building not just African brands, but a global brand in Africa that delivers beyond just the service but plays a catalytic role in Africa’s growth," said brand finance Africa chairman and brand Africa founder, Thebe Ikalfeng.
The Brand Africa 100 award is the third brand award MTN has received this year, the company said.
Jennifer Forrester, executive for group marketing at MTN, stated, “Over the years, we have proudly witnessed the growth of our brand as the company expanded its footprint."
