antenna__jurvetsonThe radio broadcasting and television industries in Africa have received a welcome boost following the launch of two Ku-Band MCPC Platforms by RRsat Global Communications Network

The platforms, Ku-1 for West Central Africa and Ku-3 for East West Africa, on Spacecom’s AMOS-5 Satellite, will complement RRsat’s existing focus on providing DTH content to sub-Saharan Africa.

“These platforms, together with AMOS, will be able to provide TV and radio channels the opportunity to reach a continent demanding new television viewing experience. With the launch of these platforms, RRsat will be able to bring content from Europe, Asia and the Americas for DTH distribution,” said RRsat’s vice president sales and marketing Lior Rival.

Spacecom’s senior vice president for sales Eyal Copitt said, “AMOS-5 was designed specifically for the African market with powerful beams and superior coverage. We are excited that RRsat has chosen to bring its MCPC platforms to our Ku-1 and Ku-3 beams.

“DTH has tremendous potential in Africa. The new Ku-Bands on AMOS-5 represent an important element of Spacecom's vision and a tremendous source of providing easy DTH content access to viewers,” he added.
